Windows 7 Service Pack 1 - Simplified

Woohoo! A milestone for the best Operating System on the planet (IMHO). However, installing this one isn't as as simple as it was for past OSes. It appears that Microsoft made some fundamental changes before releasing this one and didn't pack the additional update in with the SP installer. So that means there's a little bit of preparation necessary before installing this wonderful milestone. There are two methods so pay attention:
Manual

Step 1: Install KB2454826 to prevent crashing while installing SP1. You can get it from here: (x32) (x64)

Step 2: Install the Service Pack (KB976932) from here.
  • (x32) windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe
  • (x64) windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe
Windows Update

Step 1: Install KB2533552 to make the Service Pack show up in the list of Important Updates. You can install it from Windows Update or here: (x32) (x64)

Step 2: Install the Service Pack from Windows Update
The Windows Update method only downloads the necessary parts of the Service Pack, but on multiple computers it takes up quite a bit of bandwidth. For us support professionals, we should have these files on-hand at all times.
